EDNA Metabarcoding Study
We are launching an eDNA metabarcoding pilot study—a technique used to analyse traces of DNA found in the environment to identify organisms. This project will help us explore and better understand the incredible biodiversity within our ancient woodlands, especially focusing on fungi. Fungi are the unsung heroes of the forest, forming partnerships with trees to promote growth and maintain ecosystem health. Yet, an estimated 93% of fungi species remain undescribed. By conducting this study, we aim to uncover these hidden species, showcase the power of AI in biodiversity research, and lay the foundation for more extensive conservation efforts. Your support will enable us to gather and analyse crucial data, directly contributing to smarter conservation strategies that protect our woodlands.
Development of Aurora
Aurora is our AI alter-ego—an intelligent, adaptive system designed to support conservation and engage the community. Aurora will serve as both a research assistant and a public-facing educator, helping us collect, analyse, and communicate environmental data in a meaningful way.
